How to Store Mushrooms
Mushrooms are a delicious and nutritious addition to any meal, but they can also be perishable. If you don't store them properly, they can quickly go bad. Here are a few tips for storing mushrooms:

Choose fresh mushrooms. When choosing mushrooms, look for ones that are firm and plump, with no signs of bruising or mold.
Store mushrooms in a cool, dry place. The ideal temperature for storing mushrooms is between 35 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit. If you don't have a cool place to store your mushrooms, you can wrap them in paper towels and place them in a plastic bag in the refrigerator.
Don't wash mushrooms until you're ready to use them. Washing mushrooms can cause them to absorb water, which can make them slimy and difficult to cook.
Cook mushrooms soon after you buy them. Mushrooms are best when they're cooked fresh. If you can't cook them right away, store them in the refrigerator and cook them within a few days.
Here are a few additional tips for storing mushrooms:
If you have a lot of mushrooms, you can freeze them. To freeze mushrooms, first clean them and remove the stems. Then, slice the mushrooms and place them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Freeze the mushrooms for 2-3 hours, or until they're firm. Once the mushrooms are frozen, you can transfer them to a freezer bag or container. Frozen mushrooms will last for up to 6 months. Note that the texture of frozen mushrooms can be a bit mushier than fresh mushrooms, but it's absolutely a viable option.
You can also dry mushrooms. To dry mushrooms, first clean them and remove the stems. Then, slice the mushrooms thinly and place them on a baking sheet. Dry the mushrooms in a low oven (150 degrees Fahrenheit) for 4-6 hours, or until they're dry and leathery. Once the mushrooms are dry, you can store them in an airtight container. Dried mushrooms will last for up to 1 year.
By following these tips, you can enjoy fresh, delicious mushrooms all year long.
